Mooring Depth Categories

Moorings are banded into depth categories and charging is appropriate for the banding allocated to each mooring.  So shallower moorings of a similar type are cheaper than deep water moorings.  As a guide depths are measured from Mean Low Water Springs (0.6m).

  • Category A  Deep Water Moorings - 3 metres or more
Category B  Shallow Water Moorings - between 1 and 3 metres
Category C  Shallow Water Moorings - less than 1 metre
Category D  Mud Mooring - drying out on every low tide
