Fleet
The Dart Harbour fleet consists of a variety of vessels designed to carry out maintenance work, to patrol the harbour and are also used to welcome visitors to the Dart.
Our largest vessel is Hercules, which in addition to its moorings duties is available for hire to assist moving heavy loads in the harbour.
Other vessels include:
- Triton – a small tug, 8.30m, which is also available for towing
- Ariadne – a small work boat, 5.4m, also available for towing
- Lynx – a pilot vessel, also doubles up as the Harbour launch
Staff at work on Hercules- Salar – a beautiful varnished, 5.4m, carvel built boat, which is used for Harbour patrolling and as a relief Taxi
- Nemesis – an Orkney, 5.9m, patrol boat
- Themis – a Ribeye rib, 5.9m, used for patrol boat and occasional towing
- Metis – a Ribeye rib, 5.9m, used for patrol boat and occasional towing
- Cygnus – a Wilson Flyer, 5.4m, which is used mainly by the volunteer patrols
- Maid – Plymouth Pilot boat, 5.4m painted Orange and solely used as a Yacht Taxi
- Tardis – a work barge, with crane (max lift 1 ton), propelled by Ariadne and can be hired for small jobs
The general livery of Dart Harbour vessels is dark blue with reflective tape and a prominent sign “Dart Harbour Contact Channel 11”.
In 2007 Dart Harbour are adding two more vessels to the fleet. A new yacht taxi and a new patrol rib. Full details of these will follow once they start service.
Facilities at Hoodown
Dart Harbour maintenance facilities exist at Hoodown, Kingswear. The fleet operates from Hoodown.
