For Sale: Maggie Nell – Conyplex 29
Maggie Nell is a Conyplex 29, built by Conyplex N.V. Alkmaar, in the Netherlands. It is believed she is ~1969 build.
The vessel is of FRP construction, she is fitted with a single diesel inboard engine
and is fitted with a Sloop Rig using timber spars.
The Vessel was found in a generally dirty external condition. The decks were generally firm underfoot though in poor cosmetic condition. The hull and deck mouldings have been hand painted in the past, the paint was tired and failing in places. A hole was evident through the transom above the waterline from a missing fitting.
Accommodation
The vessels accommodation consist of:
A central saloon area and living area with a small galley and two settee berths. A toilet compartment, storage and forward cabin are located forward. The vessels interior was of traditional varnished timber finishes, is dirty and noted to be full of possessions.
Equipment (All in Unknown Condition)
- Rigging & Sails:
- One worn and very stained/ dirty mainsail was found secured to the boom – condition unknown. A further sail – suspected a foresail was found stowed within the aft locker – condition unknown.
- The vessel was found fitted with a Sloop Rig, the spars consisting of a timber mast and boom/ The mast is suspected to be of pitch pine (not confirmed). No large shakes were visible in the spars at the time of visit, no areas of significant degradation were visible, however the boom was mostly covered and access to the mast was limited to head height only.
- The vessel is fitted with 1×19 stainless steel standing rigging, the age of the rigging in unknown.
- The running rigging was found in weathered and dirty condition.
- Engine: 2 cylinder diesel engine, this by “Beta”. The engine was stated to not operate. The reasons for the non operation of the engine are unknown.
- Cooking: One very elderly cooker (Two hob burners and Grill), was found fitted, this is suspected to be of original fitment.
- Navigation & Communication:
- Basic, aged electronics were seen aboard.
- One steering compass was found fitted, this was bulkhead mounted within the cockpit.
- One Fusion Stereo unit was fitted.
Conclusion
The vessel was found in weathered condition and is clearly in the need for TLC. The vessels interior was found in an untidy and partially flooded condition. The vessel will clearly require significant levels of TLC to put her back into service.
Please note, that if the vessel is purchased, it must be removed from the waters of Dart Harbour. This vessel does not come with a mooring. Dart Harbour can provide any new owner with a tow to a suitable yard on the Dart upon sale.
