Matthew grew up on the River Dart and has lived by it and on it for most of his life. He lives in Kingswear with his family, all of whom are active users of the river.
He has had a varied career, including service in the Royal Navy, work with the United Nations, and most recently as a founder of a health insurance company.
Matthew is passionate about the River Dart and committed to ensuring it remains accessible to all, while being environmentally and economically sustainable. He brings strong local knowledge, maritime experience, and broad business expertise — from PLC boards to start-ups to the Harbour Board.
