Commercial Vessel Registration

In line with the Port and Marine Facility Safety Code (2025 update), all commercial vessels based in, or regularly operating on Dart Harbour waters must now be registered with us, and meet certain minimum standards. This includes passenger vessels, fishing boats, workboats, and any other vessels engaged in commercial activity.

Please complete the form below with your vessel’s details. If you require further information or help with filling out this form, or are not able to meet these standards, please arrange a visit with the team in the Dart Harbour office. For multiple vessels, please repeat the form for each vessel.

What operations do you conduct with your vessel? *

All passenger operations require a form of passenger certificate, please contact the Dart Harbour office on 01803 832337 for more information.

All operations outside categorised waters (i.e. seaward of the castles) require a form of certification or coding. please contact the Dart Harbour office on 01803 832337 for more information.

Please note, your risk assessments must include an assessment of vessel stability for the above operations. You may wish to use the stability tests contained in the Inland Waters Small Passenger Boat Code Annexes 8-10 as a basis for your stability assessment

Please note, your risk assessments must include an assessment of any fire and pollution risks from the Hazardous Cargo carried, based on IMO/MCA standards.

Does the safety equipment on the vessel comply with both the following Statutory Instruments? *
Do you require the master of this vessel to have some form of qualification (e.g. Boatmaster, SHDC Boatman, RYA yachtmaster, PB2, Seafish qualification etc)? *

We strongly recommend that the master of any vessel (<24m Length) being operated commercially on the river has at least a RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate (with a commercial endorsement). Further information can be obtained from the Harbour Office

By choosing to operate this vessel without certification, I accept that myself and/or the Company or Organisation and/or the Master of the vessel is taking a personal responsibility that this vessel is being operated safely. The above checklists should be regarded as a bare minimum and must be complied with in order to operate the vessel commercially within Dart Harbour waters. *

We require that all commercial vessels do not cause pollution in the river. Further information can be obtained from the Harbour Office
