Is your vessel used as overnight accommodation on the Dart for at least 180 days in a year *

Vessel Condition

Is your vessel in generally good condition? *
Is your vessel more than 10 years old? *
Existing liveaboard vessels do not need to have a condition survey until 1st April 2028.
Has your vessel had a condition survey carried out by a competent surveyor within the last 5 years? *

Does your vessel have a working engine and other systems meaning it is capable of independent movement? *
Is your vessel moved off of its mooring under its own power for a distance of at least 1NM at least every 3 months *
Has your vessel been lifted out of the water (or been inspected on a drying grid) in the last 2 years *
IMPORTANT. Your answers will be reviewed by the harbour master who will consider whether the condition of the vessel is suitable for it to be safely used as a liveaboard vessel on the Dart. *

Vessel Habitability

Does your vessel have standing headroom in the main living areas? *
Does your vessel have a permanent berth for each person living onboard regularly? *
Does your vessel have a safe and efficient heating system? *
Does your vessel have adequate ventilation? *
Is the vessel kept in a clean, tidy & hygenic state? *
Is there clear access to walk over the deck from bow to stern? *
Is there clear access to all parts of the accommodation below deck (though it is acceptable for a cabin not required for sleeping to be used as a store room) *
Are all hazardous objects and substances properly stowed? *
IMPORTANT. Your answers will be reviewed by the harbour master who will consider whether the habitability of the vessel is suitable for it to be safely used as a liveaboard vessel on the Dart. *

Safety Equipment

Is your boat fitted with lifejackets for all inhabitants? *
Is your boat fitted with a working smoke detector? *
Is your boat fitted with a working carbon monoxide detector? *
Is your boat fitted with a working VHF? *
Is your boat fitted with suitable fire extinguishers? *
Is your boat fitted with a boarding ladder, rigged so it can be easily accessed from the water? *
IMPORTANT. Your answers will be reviewed by the harbour master who will consider whether the safety equipment aboard the vessel is suitable for it to be safely used as a liveaboard vessel on the Dart. *

Pollution

Is your boat fitted with a holding tank for the marine toilet (or other means to prevent sewage from the vessel entering the river)? *
Do you always use the holding tank and empty it appropriately to avoid pollution (e.g. using the pump out facilities at Darthaven)? *
Do you have suitable batteries / solar panels etc to ensure that you do not need to run a generator for extended periods, to avoid noise pollution? *
