Supporting tall ships, and benefitting the community & environment

From 2026, Dart Harbour will be encouraging more sail training vessels to visit Dartmouth.

We’ve reduced the buoyage fee for tall ships and other sail training vessels operated by charities to £1.21 per metre, or £1.87 per metre for vessels using our Town Jetty mooring, as well as allowing frequent visitor discounts on Harbour Dues.

To help our local community and estuary benefit from the good work that these sail training vessels do, we will be putting all of the income from tall ship mooring fees  towards our Dart Harbour Community & Environment Fund.  This fund pays for every schoolchild in Dartmouth to learn to swim, as well as contributing to a range of other projects, which included a donation to Royal Dart Youth Trust in 2026 used to pay for local children to learn to sail, so each visit by a tall ship to the harbour has a benefit to causes close to their hearts!  Each cruise ship passenger and superyacht also contributes to this fund.

We have also recently made some upgrades to Town Jetty to ensure an excellent stay for these vessels – including 64 amp 3-phase shore power, additional bollards and upgraded wifi.  Combined with its location in the centre of town, and ability to accommodate vessels up to around 70m depending on tidal conditions, it is now an ideal facility for a call by a tall ship.  We can always accommodate tall ships on this jetty between 17:00-08:45, but can normally provide this berth for longer periods as well – get in touch with the harbour office to make a booking.
