LNTM 06-25 – Higher Ferry Maintenance – 27th Feb 2025 onwards.
All Mariners are advised:
The Higher Car Ferry will be closed for a period of scheduled maintenance from 27th February.
During this period there will be times where the Ferry will be sat on its purpose built cradle, which is placed on the Dartmouth ferry slipway (in position 50° 21′.404N 003° 34′.593W). This will lead to the cables entering the water at a higher point than normal.
During periods of time where the Ferry is not on the cradle, it will be moored on the Kingswear (east) side of the river, upstream of the Kingswear trot moorings.
Marker buoys will be secured to the cradle to mark its location when it is covered during the periods of high water.
Extra care should be taken when navigating the crossing, with particular care taken when near the slipway areas.
Those seeking to use the public slipway on the Dartmouth side should do so with extreme caution and take advice from the Ferry crews if given.
Whilst the dates listed above are confirmed, they may change due to poor weather. Confirmation should be sought from the Higher Ferry.
