LNTM 01-26 – Kingswear lighthouse unreliable.

The old sector light has now been switched to remain operational 24 hours a day, not just during the hours of darkness.

The main sector light on Kingswear Lighthouse is currently unreliable. Currently, the old sector light, which has the same characteristics (RWG Iso 3s 9m) has been reinstated and is operational during the hours of darkness. This older light is slightly dimmer, and the sectors are less well defined.

The white sector has been checked and does provide a good lead through the shoal patches in the range and between the castles, however the boundaries of the sectors should not be used to fix positions as their accuracy is approx +/- 3 degrees compared to the chart.

The main light will be restored as soon as practical.
