LNTM 02/26 Storm Ingrid Sunk Boats

Good morning all

The Dart has been hit hard by the south-easterly winds of Storm Ingrid overnight, and the poor conditions continue, with rough conditions throughout the river.

While most vessels have ridden out the storm well, A number of vessels have sunk on their moorings – a couple in the Old Mill Creek area and a few small boats on LWL, Dittisham and Stoke Gabriel pontoons, and we are receiving and investigating reports of other damaged vessels. We will contact impacted boatowners directly.

At present conditions are too bad for our team to attempt to recover these vessels, and these pontoons are also too dangerous for boat owners to use to try to recover or bail out boats. We will start recovering swamped boats as soon as we are safely able to do so.

We strongly advise against using the river until conditions moderate. When you are able to get afloat, please take extra care to avoid submerged debris, and use a lifejacket. We would recommend checking your boat next week for any damage.

Stay safe.
